In celebration of National Poetry Month, I am inviting several poet friends to join me in my daily endeavor of paying poetic attention to the world. This week I am sharing the practice with dear friend Kathy Couch. Some of you might remember our year long collaboration How We Share the Sky. (on Instagram as #howwesharethesky)
Follow her on Instagram (@kccouch) for inspiration, light, delight and reminders to #resist and #imagine.
may the day be delphinium,
i mean, may it make you blink
with love for a kind of blue
you’d forgotten was out there.
may the touch of warm air remind you
you are a being with skin,
you are skin with a story,
you are a story whose lines
are meant to be sung.

as the sun returns to touch you
(and I promise it will)
may you turn yourself over
to that which forgives
all that has been frozen
