fray, you’re such a pretty word,
i forget you hold both sides of rupture.
the altercation and its aftermath,
both threat and thread.

you remind me we are made of fibers.
delicate as single strands,
durable when woven,
how beautiful we are
our open-hearted unravel
our longing to be mended.
