the time it took
a foot of snow
to lay its body
on the sidewalk.
and then recede.
.
the way the window
met the bricks,
shattering the quiet
into a hundred
sudden screams.
.
that we might learn
to land lightly
in every encounter,
that we might learn
to do no harm.
